Food Web of Organisms that can be found at Homebush Bay:
Food Chains of organisms in the Food Web:
In these Food Chains, the first organism is the producer or decomposer, the next organism is the first consumer which is a herbivore and the second/ third consumers are carnivores.
Ideentifying: the producer, consumers, herbivores, carnivores, omnivores and decomposes from the food web and food chains above.
Producers: An organism, such as a plant is able to produce its own food from inorganic substances. The producers in the food web are (plants/ weeds mangroves/ mangrove leaves).
Consumers: An organism which is usually an animal, that feeds on other animals. The consumers in the food web are ( insects/ bugs, water Boatsman, fish, mangrove spiders, mosquitos, mangrove snails, mangrove crabs and the Ibis).
Herbivores: A herbivore is an animal that feeds on plants. The herbivores in the food web are ( Mosquitos, mangrove crabsand mangrove snails).
Carnivores: A carnivore is an animal that feeds on other animals. The carnivores in the food web are ( fish and the Ibis).
Omnivores: An omnivore is a person or animal that eats a variety of food of both plant and animal origin. The omnivore in the food web is the mangrove spider.
Decomposes: Decomposers are organisms such as bacteria and fungi that break down the organic matter in the dead bodies of plants and animals. The Decomposer in the food web is bacteria.
If one of these organisms were completely taken from the food web/ chain, the organisms that it eats would over populate and die and the organisms on top of it on the food chain would all die one by one like a domino effect because if one dies the organisms on top of it have no food to eat and the organism on the very top would die because it would have no food.
Consumers: An organism which is usually an animal, that feeds on other animals. The consumers in the food web are ( insects/ bugs, water Boatsman, fish, mangrove spiders, mosquitos, mangrove snails, mangrove crabs and the Ibis).
